Considering we live in the age of smartphones, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that technological advances are beginning to make their way into the world of auto glass. Many vehicles nowadays come equipped with an in dash GPS navigation and bluetooth system, and they even have built in sensors that detect when your tires need air, the oil needs to be changed, or the engine needs to be checked. With that in mind, it only seems logical that auto manufacturers would look to incorporate technology when building new windshields. And that’s exactly what they are doing.
According to an article in the Wall Street Journal, auto manufacturers are working feverishly to develop “computerized” windshields that could basically serve as a smartphone and GPS wrapped into one. When you sit down and think about it, this is an ingenious concept. Instead of having to take your eyes off the road to look at your GPS for directions or a text on your smartphone, you can get the information you crave while keeping your eyes fixated on the road.
